Jodi and her sister have left for Ireland. This is a long-planned trip, one that they’ve dreamt about since they were teenagers. Half of their family hails from Ireland, and this trip offers a chance for relaxation and history. In fact, Jodi’s sister has spent several months assembling geneology information about their family, trying to trace their heritage back to the many mother countries.<\/p>\n
\nI’m here in California. My vacation was in August, so I’m staying at SLAC to work. There’s plenty to do – publish summer research, push along other work, apply for jobs, plan for future research. Whew. I envy Jodi, but to be fair I’ve already had my break. Jodi’s been going non-stop since the CDMS detector hit its full stride, and this is a long-needed and well-deserved break for her. Meanwhile, I am abdicated (for a week, at least)!<\/p>\n
