Photo a day: the great whiteboard experiment, part 3

We have (apparently) successfully generated a fully interactive whiteboard surface right on a wall, using only a can of speciality paint. As you can see, having such a surface IMMEDIATELY led to a discussion how how to make the Gamma Density more computer-friendly.

  1. And what kind of “special” paint did you use, and where did you get it? (preferably online…)

  2. We ordered it from tableauxblancs.fr, the French equivalent of whiteboards.com. But in the U.S., you can order this stuff from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. It goes under many names – “Whiteboard Paint,” “Dry Erase Paint,” etc.

  3. Hi Nicole! It erases just fine. If we had it to do all over again, we’d smooth the surface, re-prime it, and then paint. For this exercise, we merely washed the existing wall to clean its paint surface, then painted. That left any non-uniformities on the existing surface, and those translate to non-uniformities on the whiteboard surface.
