Jodi and her sister have left for Ireland. This is a long-planned trip, one that they’ve dreamt about since they were teenagers. Half of their family hails from Ireland, and this trip offers a chance for relaxation and history. In fact, Jodi’s sister has spent several months assembling geneology information about their family, trying to trace their heritage back to the many mother countries.
I’m here in California. My vacation was in August, so I’m staying at SLAC to work. There’s plenty to do – publish summer research, push along other work, apply for jobs, plan for future research. Whew. I envy Jodi, but to be fair I’ve already had my break. Jodi’s been going non-stop since the CDMS detector hit its full stride, and this is a long-needed and well-deserved break for her. Meanwhile, I am abdicated (for a week, at least)!
