The spring semester is about to begin. I thought it would be nice to share signs of new life among the various plants in my indoor garden. A new pea plant sprouts in the hydroponic garden.

Signs of Life

It’s been a week of “getting back into the swing” before the spring semester. Most of my effort is focused on mapping my Tuesday/Thursday introductory physics course into a 3-day model (Monday/Wednesday/Friday). The mapping of lecture material (reading and lecture videos) into Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) “assignments” is complete. […]

Getting back into the swing …

Today was the first day “back at work” for 2022. I put “back at work” in quotes because I was working, but I did not go into the office. There is no need. Right now, we are still between terms. It’s not like the hallways of my building are teeming […]

First work day of 2022

My part of the U.S. has been experiencing anomalously high temperatures for December and January. All of that changes today. A cold front is sweeping into the region and the temperature is plummeting. With wind chill, we’re expected to hit single- or low-double-digit temperatures tonight and tomorrow. Winter has finally […]

Here comes winter!

What happened? I started this year with an intended focus on wellness. I resolved to use this blog not as a place to write long articles about the abuse of science and reason, but as a place for me to focus on efforts to exercise, adjust my eating habits, and […]

What happened? 2021 edition.

Here are some flowers from our yard. They are confused, because it is late summer in December right now. They are in for a rude awakening as the temperature plummets over the next 36 hours.

A little beauty to end the year

After a stormy, rainy morning, the skies cleared and it was lovely. I went for a nice run and got some quality time reading out on the patio.

… and just like that, it cleared up.

Our first “wintery” day of the break. A good excuse to relax and stay inside.

A lazy rainy day

Jodi made it her mission to get our cruiser bikes fixed during this holiday break. To incentivize me to join her for a ride, she committed to doing the work herself. This did not go as planned.

A bike ride on December 28

Yesterday was “sitting on the patio in shorts” weather. Today? “Complain about how hot it is while on a walk in flip-flops” weather.

Winter … Am I Right?

I’ve gone silent in this blog. Take it as a sign of everything else that has been going on. Writing in this blog is the first thing to be sacrificed when life intervenes. It’s been many months since I wrote here. Truth be told, I think I need to write […]

End of Summer, 2021

Cheat day! Walking: burned 248 calories in 46 minutes. Intake: 2738 calories. Goal: 2290 net calories.

We grabbed some fresh Italian sausages from Pino's when we passed through the Soo. Pretty excited to grill at home on a windy but […]
