After the eventful start to my trip in San Francisco, the rest of it was pretty smooth and uneventful. Upon arriving in Rochester, my gate was right next to the terminal exit and my bag arrived nearly immediately from the claim area. My rental car pickup was smooth, and I found myself very quickly on the way to Ithaca. I hit I-90E just south of Rochester, and eventually exited onto highway 96 heading south to Ithaca. It was a near immediate transition from busy interstate to country highway, threading through beautiful and quiet small towns, surrounded on either side by cows and corn. It felt comfortable, and it was very relaxing way to get to this seminar.
I got pretty lost in Ithaca proper, but that’s just the way these New England cities are. You get a little spoiled after spending time on the urban grid system in the Midwest, so it’s my own fault, really. I got settled into my hotel room super-quick, ordered some hot wings from a place next door, and got some much needed rest.
I knew I would enjoy the journey to each of these 8 seminars and colloquia, but I didn’t expect to start enjoying it so fast.
