This has been a long couple of weeks. I feel better today, because the smell of spring is lingering in the air. The temperature has been climbing upward in the past week, taking us to very pleasant springtime weather in the Bay Area. Today, the neighbors have mowed their lawn, capping off the experience. There is the warm smell of fresh-cut grass, mixed with the heat of a late winter sun, and it’s helping me to relax a bit after a few crazy weeks.
Last weekend was a mix of family tragedy and musical triumph. I was in Connecticut to be with my family during a sudden trying period. While I was there, I was finally able to get together with a few musician friends of mine and do some recording. It’s been a *long* time since I had the pleasure of laying down drums on some excellent melodies, and that took the edge off an otherwise gloomy weekend.
This week I got back into my work. There were a lot of meetings, though while important always kept me from staying on track on my research. There are a lot of things to think about concerning Babar physics and the future of the experiment. “The changing funding landscape in Washington”:http://scienceaction.org/news/3 isn’t making a lot of this planning simple, and we have to hope that the DOE continues to stick to its pledge to make the B-factory a complete success by running it through the end of 2008. This looks safe, but these early months of any political year always make me nervous. The week ended on a high-note, as I got to give an internal presentation to one of the SLAC groups concerning some research I’ve been involved in for the past year.
This weekend is a chance to go for walks, rest, and “migrate my personal website”:http://steve.cooleysekula.net to the Dojo javascript framework.
