An ice storm is descending on the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Our car was encased in a thin shell of ice that was hard to scrape off. We left SMU as soon as we could today (right after my last class) and took side roads all the way home. We passed one accident – a smashed up car on a long bridge east of Highway 75 in Dallas. Other than that we were fortunate to avoid the half-dozen accidents scattered across highways on our 20 mile drive north. I am happy to be home with a warm fire, watching the 5pm news show us all the crazy spin-outs and slides and collisions that have defined the late afternoon and early evening today.
